Within the Fulcrum Point Method™, we use a set of tools to bring clarity and isolate the single narrative.
One of these tools is our proprietary RAILD log – a practical framework we use during the Observe the Terrain process to build a shared picture of the environment.
What does RAILD stand for?
🚩Risks - Potential events or conditions that could have a negative impact.
💭Assumptions - Beliefs or expectations that are taken for granted but may not be validated.
⚠️Issues - Existing challenges that are already impacting performance or outcomes.
⛔Limitations - Restraints we deduce or that are implied, and constraints that are explicitly defined.
🔗Dependencies - Interconnections between elements that affect how changes in one area influence another.
Why is the RAILD log important?
- gives a comprehensive understanding of the whole system;
- highlights where constraints exist;
- reveals what dependencies matter;
- outlines how different parts of the system interact;
- makes hidden issues visible.
The RAILD log is a practical yet powerful framework: it turns complexity into clarity and prepares organizations to act with confidence.
